The good, bad, and the ugly...

How my week went

I'm hovering right around 10 pounds down total, but I'm not discouraged, things are fitting better and this is a 90 day challenge after all. I made a few mistakes at thanksgiving, stayed gluten free but tripped over too many carbs and sugar. I probably wouldn't have had that piece of pumpkin cheesecake (which was heaven by the way) had I not had the extra glass of wine. Somehow my brain translated "gluten-free" into "all things free". Felt it for sure the next day. I had been fairly low carb and almost completely sugar free for three months. It put my system into quite a shock. Lesson learned. I move forward.

The "Bearded One" has been mixing his shakes with whole milk, bananas and blueberries for an in-between meal snack, sometimes adding in one of the flavor packets that came with the shake mix. I'm excited to see how he fares at the end of the challenge.

How working out is working out

The monster machine a.k.a. elliptical is located in our bedroom. The "Bearded One" is retired. I get up at 5:30 and he tends to sleep in. My original plan was to hop onto said machine for cardio and do my weight training in the evening so  I wouldn't disturb the slumbering one but that's not worked out very well. I am much better when I'm fresh in the morning, so the new "improved plan" is for The "Bearded One" to vacate the "Gym" in the morning and let me do my thing. I think it will work well. He can always take a nap later. ;-)

You guys and gals have inspired me

I've been so excited to hear from everyone. We all are making progress. Some of us a little faster and some of us a little slower but we are closer to our goals everyday. For the newbies… remember to have a couple of snacks and a really good dinner.

Remember, don't "over-diet". This is doable, and it's not rocket science. By replacing two meals with a great tasting, good for you shake you are automatically reducing your calorie intake. Check in once in a while, we'd love to hear from you! What a great way to head into the New Year. By the way a few of us have picked a pair of smaller jeans to use as a yardstick to mark our progress because sometimes the scales don't reflect what you've accomplished. Send me a picture of your dream jeans and I will post them here next week. :-) Rhondi.perdue@gmail.com

Hanging in there

So onto a brand new week! Back on track with a plan! Leslie and I will be traveling this weekend and sharing some shakes. When something works you can't help but share it!  http://rlperdue.bodybyvi.com

Day one of "The project"

It's official. It's the end of week two since I started on the ViSalus challenge, and the first day of the jack sprat project which involves "The Bearded One" as well.  I was hoping to move the rivet on my vi-braclet to the 10 pound hole but alas I came up a 1/2 pound short. I will get there this week for sure. I'm sure that my progress will probably be a little slower in the next seven weeks but I know that if I stick to the challenge I will get there.

The "Bearded One and I have different goals for this project. He wants to maintain his weight and add muscle mass. He will be using the vi-shakes, with  milk, bananas and blueberries for the extra protein and carbs that he needs. I will be using the vi-shakes as meal replacements using unsweetened almond milk, ice and a variety of low carb fruits and flavors. The "bearded One" has devised a workout plan for me that involves climbing on to the elliptical and working my way up to thirty minutes, which I used to do quite easily. Now however I'm starting with 5 minute increments. It just about does my chubby self in. He has also prescribed some weight training ala "Jorge Cruise"

Day 1

My nemesis "The machine"  sure it looks innocent enough here, but trust me it's a killer.

So here we go I think I'm actually going to enjoy the ride. This whole 90 day challenge thing is quite exciting. Taking life in doable chunks and being able to actually measure progress who would of thought.

Rivet

Next week I'm gonna move that rivet!

What have I gotten us into...

NewImage

This coming Monday is the official off and running, well not actually running, start of our challenge. It will mark the two week weigh in for me since I joined the ViSalus challenge. This blog will be to document the progress of a couple of not so young, but never too late to start people on our journey towards good health and for me being able to take up less space. I believe that the Vi shakes are a healthy choice whether  fat or thin and this will be a way to test that out.

I will be having two shakes daily made using almond milk and a great dinner while sticking to my low-carb diet. The Bearded one, a total health nut,  will be using the shakes with regular milk and fruit as snacks to add protein and carbs to his diet. On day thirty I will post our beginning pics. Not flattering, and our in progress pics, hopefully  an improvement with weight lost or gained. I would also like to include some before and durings of some of my fellow ViSalians. We can all use a little inspiration.

The Bearded one has prescribed a fitness plan for me which involves the elliptical for cardio and some strength training, all which will be documented as we get going.

See you on Monday :-)
